In the previous article of the series “VMware Training. Season 2021-2022” we considered a list of training programs in the direction of Multi-Cloud: VMware vRealize Orchestrator.

Today we will talk about the main training programs in the field Multi-Cloud: VMware vRealize Operations.

VMware vRealize Operations


vRealize Operations deliver a unified management platform to optimize, plan, and scale hybrid cloud deployments from applications to infrastructure, powered by AI/ML, as a service.

The main current training programs for VMware vRealize Operations technologies are:

● VMware vRealize Operations: Install, Configure, Manage [V8.2]

  • Duration: 5 days.
  • Level of difficulty: Professional.
  • Target audience: vRealize Operations on-premises and cloud customers including experienced system administrators, system integrators, and consultants responsible for designing, implementing, and customizing vRealize Operations.
  • Prerequisites: This class requires system administration experience with VMware vSphere deployments or completion of one of the following courses:
    • VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V7];
    • VMware vSphere: Optimize and Scale [V7].

This five-day course is for users of both cloud and on-premises versions of the VMware vRealize Operations product. It provides you with the knowledge and skills to deploy a vRealize Operations cluster that meets the monitoring requirements of your environment.

This course includes advanced capabilities like customizing alerts, views, reports, and dashboards and explains the architecture in vRealize Operations. This course explains certificates, capacity and cost concepts, and workload optimization with real-world use cases. This course covers troubleshooting using workbench, alerts, and Predefined
dashboards and how to manage compliance and configurations. This course also covers several management packs, and it introduces VMware vRealize Operations Cloud.

In general, this course explains how to use and configure most of the new features and enhancements in version 8.1 and 8.2.

● VMware vRealize Operations: Day 2 Operations with Cloud [V8.2]

  • Duration: 4 days.
  • Level of difficulty: Professional.
  • Target audience: vRealize Operations on-prem and cloud customers, including experienced system administrators, system integrators, and consultants responsible for designing, implementing, and customizing vRealize Operations.
  • Prerequisites: This class requires system administration experience with VMware vSphere deployments or completion of one of the following courses:
    • VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V7];
    • VMware vSphere: Optimize and Scale [V7].

This four-day course is for users of the both VMware vRealize Operations on-prem and cloud versions. The course includes how to use advanced capabilities like customizing alerts, views, reports, and dashboards, and it explains the architecture in vRealize Operations. This course explains certificates, capacity concepts, and workload optimization with real-world use cases. This course covers troubleshooting using dashboards and how to manage compliance and configurations. This course also covers
several management packs and introduces VMware vRealize Operations Cloud.

● VMware vRealize Operations for Administrators [V7]

  • Duration: 2 days.
  • Level of difficulty: Professional.
  • Target audience: Experienced system administrators.
  • Prerequisites: This class requires completion of one of the following courses:
    • VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V6.x];
    • VMware vSphere: Optimize and Scale [V6.x];
    • Or system administration experience with vSphere deployments.

This two-day course is designed for data center administrators who are responsible for the day-to-day management of a VMware vSphere environment using VMware vRealize Operations. This course will teach you how to use vRealize Operations as a forensic and predictive tool. The course is based on VMware ESXi 6.7, VMware vCenter Server 6.7, and vRealize Operations 7.0.

VMware vRealize Operations and vSAN Integration Workshop

  • Duration: 2 days.
  • Level of difficulty: Professional.
  • Target audience: vSAN and VMware vSphere administrators.
  • Prerequisites: At a minimum, students attending this course should have completed the VMware vSAN: Deploy and Manage [V6.x] course or have equivalent knowledge.
    • Some experience with basic operations of vRealize Operations would also be helpful.
    • The course presumes that a student can perform the following tasks with no assistance or guidance before enrolling in this course:
      • Use VMware vSphere Client;
      • Perform routine VMware vCenter Server tasks;
      • Configure a vSAN datastore.
    • Perform routine vSAN maintenance tasks.

This two-day course explains how to use and configure VMware vRealize Operations Manager 7.0 to integrate with VMware vSAN 6. This course explains concepts and practical applications of vRealize Operations Manager in reference to vSAN.
